The Bird Paradise Reserve is a protected area located on Sobieszewska Island in Gdańsk. The reserve covers an area of 198 ha and includes a complex of lakes, swamps, forests and meadows. There are over 200 species of birds in the reserve, of which 45 species nest permanently. During spring and autumn migrations, over 100,000 birds fly through the reserve. There is a 6 km long nature and educational trail in the reserve. The path is equipped with information boards about the surrounding nature. The Ptasi Raj Reserve is a popular place for relaxation and bird watching. It is also an important area for biodiversity conservation.

It is the only natural seal colony in Poland. These seals number about 100 individuals and include both males and females. The Mewia Łacha reserve is a popular place for relaxation and bird watching. Krzywy Las in Sobieszewo is a small fragment of the forest where Scots pines with a characteristic, bent shape grow. These trees are bent at an angle of approximately 90° from approximately 20 cm above the ground, and in some the curvature reaches a height of 3 meters. Krzywy Las is located in Sobieszewo, between the entrances to beach no. 17 and 18, approx. 100 m from the sea. This area was named so because of the over 50 deformed Scots pines growing there.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
The observation tower in Orle is a 30-meter high water tower that was put into operation in 2015. It is located near the Orle Hotel, at an altitude of 45 m above sea level, which makes it the highest viewpoint on Sobieszewska Island. At the top of the tower there is an observation deck with a breathtaking panorama of the Bay of Gdańsk. The observation tower is available to visitors from spring to autumn. Admission is free.

Kamienna Grobla at the mouth of Wisła Śmiała is a communication causeway separating Wisła Śmiała from Lake Ptasi Raj. It was built in 1887-1888 to clear the mouth of the river. The causeway is approximately 2.5 kilometers long and approximately 10 meters high. The causeway is made of stones and concrete. At its top there is a road leading to the town of Orle. The causeway is a popular place for recreation and bird watching. From the causeway you can admire the beauty of the mouth of the Wisła Śmiała and the Bay of Gdańsk. MEETING WITH SEALS
Seals in the Mewia Łacha nature reserve are one of the greatest attractions of this place. This reserve is the only place in Poland where Baltic seals can be observed in their natural environment. Gray seals are the largest marine mammals living in the Baltic Sea. Adults reach a length of up to 2.5 meters and weigh up to 300 kilograms. These seals are very social and live in groups called packs. In the Mewia Łacha reserve, seals can be observed all year round. They are easiest to find in spring and summer when they are most active. These seals like to sunbathe on the beach or on sandbanks, which provides an excellent opportunity to observe them.
NEARBY MONUMENTS
The lock in Przegalina is a chamber lock in Gdańsk, in the Wyspa Sobieszewska district (on the south-eastern tip of the island), enabling inland navigation between the Vistula and Wisła Martwa. The lock was built in 1888-1890 to regulate the water level in the river. It is a concrete and wooden structure. The walls of the lock heads are made of brick. In recent years, an observation deck was built over the lock, from which you can admire its structure and the surrounding area.
